Review - Hellraiser #4

Hellraiser #4 by Boom! Studios. Written by Clive Barker and Christopher Monfette. Drawn by Stephen Thompson. $3.99

Part four of the storyline of Pinhead attempting to become human again, has Kirsty finally confront him for the first time in twenty-five years as she tries to save the man who called him once more to Earth.

After killing her current fiance, the box is taken to a underground "kingdom" and unleashed again by a dim-witted son of the "King". When Pinhead arrives as well as his trademark hooked chains, one of the most gruesome scenes in comics I have seen happens. (Well except for that shit in Crossed that was just bloody and gruesome to shock the audience. But there was so much it just made it just plain monotonous.) Three of Pinhead's chains rip through a subway car full of passengers. Stephen Thompson draws this in such detail that you can almost feel the pain and the surprise of the passengers as they are instantly killed. And the expressions that are on the faces show how good Stephen is at his craft.

Once again, a solid issue that makes you not put it down and hate when it is over, impatiently waiting for the next issue.
