Review - Hellraiser #3

Hellraiser #3 by Boom! Studios. Written by Clive Barker and Christopher Monfette. Drawn by Stephen Thompson. $3.99

Clive Barker is a imaginative if not messed up in the head a little. Once again he brings new blood into the Hellraiser mythos with two newly designed Cenobites as well and several new "boxes" or ways to summon hell to earth.

In this issue you learn the origins of several of the Harrowers and how they came to meet Kirsty. As well as some of the other devices that LeMarchand created as gateways to the horrors and pleasures of hell. This contradicts the movie Bloodlines, in where LeMarchand only created the one box before he was killed. Showing that even though the rights are tied up with New Line Cinema, Clive Barker is still the master of his creation.

This is one of the best horror comics coming out right now, and there seems to be a surge in them due to the following of The Dead Walking on AMC. The fact that after all this time, and all the screwing with the original concept by the movie studio, Clive Barker could revitalize the Hellraiser franchise into what it is in this comic just shows how he is a true master of horror writing.
