Review - Tarot the Witch of the Black Rose #70

Tarot Witch of the Black Rose #70 by Broadsword Comics. Written by Jim Balent. Drawn by Jim Balent. $2.95

First off I have to say there is very little if any horror aspects to this issue. That happens sometimes on this title. But that being said, lol, there is quite a bit of nudity.

Jim Balent is a master in creating female characters for this title, most I am told are based on real readers of the title. This goes to show just how loyal this comics fans are.

The issue is sexy and has a good fight scene between a mermaid and Tarot, but if you are offended by the nudity you might want to pass on this one. Especially in one scene where Tarot gets her nips and lady-parts pinched by a sea crab. Even I cringed at the site of it, lol.

The title is a well drawn and nicely written comic, but is a bit of a Tits and Ass fest so enjoy at your own risk, and I give this a three only because of the lack of horror in it.

Review - Tarot Witch of the Black Rose #69

Tarot Witch of the Black Rose #69 by Broadsword Comics. Written by Jim Balent. Drawn by Jim Balent. $2.95

This is a title I have been on the fence about critiquing for some time. But with the launch of Comic Carnage I decided it should be included. Now for a little background, there has been a cult following of this title for sometime. Lovers of Jim Balent's art as well as many Wiccan's and horror fans. It originally was less adult (nudity and some sex) and was quite clever in how the stuff was hidden, but now most issues have the main two girls completely nude. Not that this is a bad thing, lol.

This issue marks the end of the storyline "The Trickster God". Where the god Loki comes to earth and wrecks all kinds of hell. The Crypt Keeper is armed with Thor's hammer and takes his revenge on Loki's killing of Tarot, Raven and their mother, as well as all the people of Salem.

It is full of sexy shots of Raven Hex and very intense fight scenes that you cant wait too see the end. Jim Balent's artwork is amazing as he brings out all the stops for his creator owned comic. It is full of Wiccan references but it doesn't wear down on the casual reader. This is one title that bears looking at if you are not offended by the women being mostly nude in every issue.
